It's very hard for Filipinos to get a visa for Japan now because many of them overstayed in the past. It's nothing to do with WW2.

How they will treat you in Japan, depends on each person. If you get a proper visa, you will be welcomed.

Rina, I have a good friend who is Filipino, she is married to a Japanese man and she works for a Japanese company. I never heard her once complain about not being welcomed in Japan. She gets a long fine with the family and enjoys it very much in Japan.

I got to meet some of her friends, and her husband's friends, who were also married to Filipinos!

Of course nowhere in the world will people have a 100% positive experience. There are Filipinos who come to Japan and do have a bad experience. There are Japanese people who go to the Philippines and have a good time without problems, but there are people who visit the Philippines and have had bad experiences as well.

My Japanese friend was visiting Manila and said while he was waiting in the store, an old lady threw coffee at him and started yelling at him. He didn't know why, until another person told him it was because he was Japanese, and that old lady lost her husband during WW2.

Point of the story? For the most part most people have a positive experience when visiting another country (any country), but there are times when people do run into problems and these are generally the ones that write a lot about it, and the ones people search for and find stories about on the internet.

In Japan, anyone that is not Japanese may face discrimination. The amount that you face depends on a lot of factors, such as how you look, your country of origin, if you are famous, etc.. From what I have read and seen, Filipinos are not seen in a high light since Japanese tend to look down on countries that are poorer than they are. Some Filipinos also have dark skin, rounder features, almost close to Blacks, and we all know that Japanese despise Black and Black-like physical features, for the most part.

Some Filipinos (and people from other countries as well, not singling you out) overstayed their visas and may have participated in illegal activities (not always their fault as some of them came to Japan with hopes of work but ended up being tricked by Yakuza and others). This has unfortunately contributed to the opinion of Filipinos that the Japanese harbor. At least you're not Black.

Girls are more than welcome. Maybe boys are too if they are good-looking. But this is not just about filipinos. This applies to any race, including Caucasoids. Same would go with Japanese when they go overseas. That ugly Jap shouldn't go to the ballpark anymore rooting for Yu with that huge Yu effigy. It's really unsightly.

Anyway rest assured there are lots of filipino communities across Japan.

There's thousands of Filipinos in Japan. Some Japanese men have a Filipina wife.

But if you want a tourist visa, it won't be easy to get.

I'm sorry that your worry may be true. A pretty number of Japanese belittle Filipinos.

A few decades ago, many Filipinas came to Japan as entertainer with working visa. But Japanese employer hired them as hostesses of bars of downtown.

The view of Japanese people against people of Filipine is not good still.

Maybe one of the problem is how Filipinos are treated in the Philippines.

I'm not too sure if what you typed is true but maybe it's due to the fact that in World War II the Japanese lost the Philippines to USA and Filipino troops.

It's false. Japan is not xenophobic anymore.
